Working on a post to a thread elsewhere just now, and for the hundredth time at least, I see that the site's autocorrect feature changes my description of "two jins" to "two gins".

Not that that's a bad thing, of course - always at least somewhat in the mood for such - but I just wonder if that means two shots of gin, or two different types of gin, or what. The Bar would have been the place to sort this new policy out, but it's still closed down I guess.

Am I the only one who, if not careful to go back and proofread my entries, finds himself talking about booze here when I meant to talk about deadwood?

Well, I just found out that "virts" gets converted to "girts" every time as well. I don't even know what "girts" are, but I'll be darned if I'm gonna honor this crazy program by looking it up.

My word processing apps don't automatically make these conversions, BTW, so I figure it's either the BNut site or some weird new aggravation Apple decide to foist on me with their latest obligatory OS upgrade.

Well, what about the gin issue?

"Now the rainman gave me two cures
Then he said, 'Jump right in.'
The one was Texas medicine,
But the other was just railroad gin.
And like a fool I mixed them,
And it strangled up my mind.
And now people just get uglier,
And I have no sense of time.
Oh, Mama can this really be the end,
To be stuck here inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues again."

or perhaps

"I started on burgundy, but soon hit the harder stuff.
Everybody said they'd stand beside me when the game got rough.
But the joke was on me, there was nobody even there to bluff.
I'm going back to New York City, I do believe I've had enough."

And I have no sense of time.
Oh, Mama can this really be the end,
To be stuck here inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues again."

Being that I am a southern gentleman with a bit of a crimson nape, I prefer the firewater when it is available. If not, I am a whiskey man. I don't own a tailored suit so I haven't drank gin (at least that I can remember). When I'm drunk at the bar I tend to point at bottles and say "give me a shot of that!" so it is quite possible.

I sat down to my supper
T'was a bottle of red whiskey
I said my prayers and went to bed
That's the last they saw of me

For relaxing times, make it suntory times.
Nikka whisky also got some good ones

Oh, autocorrect. Gotta love it, as it makes the latest generation even lazier.

If you're into gin, get your hands on some Old Fourth Distillery. It's an Atlanta micro.

"If your day is dull and if it's misty
Pour yourself a glass of peated whiskey
It will go down a treat, and even warm your feet
And then you'll end up feeling quite frisky"

Here is the best Irish Whiskey I've had. Interestingly, I have a patient who's Dad was a DVM in Middleton, Ireland years ago and the head distiller, Barry Crockett, taught him how to sail. His dad treated the animals of the distillery workers in Middleton. They make Jamison, Powers, Green Spot, and Redbreast there I believe as well

Taste a Juniper, or a spruce, maybe a pine. It may jog your memory!
Yuck.

If you really like drinking without tasting alchohol......crownroyal375__53225__91017.1407757536.1280.1280.jpgimg-thing.jpeg

I think the plum scientifically chemically neutralizes the alcohol taste.
You can mix it 75/25 and not taste alcohol!

Caution!

Now imagine me, drunk on this at lunch at Guitar Center, came back to the counter and shook my tea bottle without a lid! Oops!

Ain't I glad that is no longer my vice!

Sorce

I will have to give that a go sorce. Crown is usually my go to when I buy a bottle. If the budget is tight, I pick up Canadian Club instead. It is terribly cheap but it is a little better than expected.
