Just got a laurel oak a friend gave me. Don't know much about them. It's in a plastic pot with really bad soil and it's almost mid October still nice weather but wondering if I can repot in better soil? If anyone has care instructions let me know. Thanks.

The safe thing to do is wait till spring, unless its so bad that it will die if you don't repot.

Unless its showing signs of distress right now chances are the soil will be alright until spring.

I guess I'm saying its bad because it's like nursery stock soil and has been wet for 4 days. Watered one time in thoughts four days. Probably can wait. Just don't know much about laurel oaks.

The first day? Or the third day?

As long as you don't water too much you should be ok.

Better than repotting now I reckon. I've read oaks are finnicky at the feet. Spring. Spring. Spring.
