My opinion it is not especially the climate, it's what actions you take for aftercare.I think it's totally dependant on climate. This tree did not like an August repot in VA but didn't mind March at all. More northern areas are different I'm sure. The one tree I've found that deals well with summer repots here is Crape Myrtle.
Very nice treeI was pulling some old needles and decided to throw a few guy wires on the mugo. Pulling down some of the branches makes a big difference I think.

Thanks Vance.Very nice tree and great progression of development. Good Job.
Still doing well but I've been pretty slack taking pics this year. Guy wires are still on and it looks about the same. How is this tree after this last growing season?
Looking good Dan. Good to see a post from you again.Summer 2024 update on my Mugo. I just read the news about Vance and was very sorry to hear of his passing. I think about him a lot when I'm working on this tree.

Thanks man. I went through a couple years there were I was losing interest and didn't really take any pics or do much of anything to my trees except keep them alive. Thankfully, most of them didn't suffer too bad.Looking good Dan. Good to see a post from you again.
I totally get that. I’m currently going through a phase of heightened interest, but less willingness to take the continual documented images needed to update these threads. My current trees and latest collected trees are looking better than they ever have. But taking pictures can be a bit exhaustingThanks man.
