Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for any tips or suggestions on removing (2) Mugo Pines from my front yard. I did some research online and found basic information on shrub removal, but if anyone has first-hand experience with these pines specifically that can be shared, I'd greatly appreciate it. Here's a picture for reference (my second Mugo Pine is in really bad shape too, just like this one).

Honestly, I wouldnt worry about "how" to remove them.
Just take them out.
Looks like they are pretty much dead and not salvagable for bonsai, if that is what you are asking

Did someone spray with brush killer? Somewhat late to replant this year. One could prune off dead parts and if using for Bonsai leave parts of branches/trunks for jin later on. This will make work of digging much easier. This should have good trunk base. Remaining tree should be usable to make unusual Bonsai;). If digging dig about drip line of branches and about 1 foot down. If few roots present may dig closer to trunk. If wishing to save these trees wait until next Spring or if in a rush can do after new growth hardened off about early/mid July.

If you want them removed alive cure whatever is wrong with them first. Wait until they are healthy and growing.

If waiting to pull it...

I'd try bending the live down across the dead, to put it in sun and away from the wall.

I found one like this the other day. Almost exactly the same.

Left of the DAS.

It's green here but ain't anymore. Too much shade probly.

But maybe DAS produces stuff like Black Walnut to kill competitors?

DAS DASn't Do that.
They produce that fresh and herby smelling forest floor where everything thrives.

I wish they would though.. Every spruce I own is in a pot riddled with weeds.

Looks like a chain and a pickup truck is what I would use to remove those.
Or a chainsaw.
