New to Bonsai, Bald Cypress

I read in July if it's healthy is the best time to remove the fronts. But only if healthy. Assuming that is the leaf striping your talking about...

So...let grow out a bit before pinching back. (MRB suggested pinching back often in BC care.) Buy until I know what I'm doing...sounds like I need to learn what is a frong...and what is a shoot. Thanks for the heads up on that. Been reading online...but decided to also read the archives here. Figured I could ask questions here...where as other resources you don't have that option.

I've always admired the Bald Cypress frongs...had no idea they could be a possibility for myself. When I learned that...I was very pleased. Thanks...I see this one I picked up as a fun tree for my bench.

Off to see if you have a thread I've not seen...on this forest you mention. Would love to see it.

Thanks again @rockm for explaining and bringing to light something I had yet to grasp.

With that sized tree, you're probably not going to have the frond issue. You will have issues with strong shoots making it look like a porcupine, I think.

I have been reading having a shohin can be rewarding...this is a tad taller. Find it quaint that Vin knows one with a mame...I would be really interested in a photo of that one!

I'm sure it will go through a gangly stage...but don't all go through that at stages. Just had one comment on the frongs.
