Hey everyone,

Anyone here familiar with Nick Lenz, particularly his "maleficient tree"?

I tried doing an image search with no luck. Anyone know where I might find it?

Thanks,

Nigel

I don't know if this tree has a title... but you may enjoy this one if you liked the other... I always think of it as the "spooky" tree.... :D

Kindest Regards,

Ms. Vic

Thanks Victrinia,

I don't perceive it as "spooky" in the least.
I find it to be quite graceful. Beautiful.

The owner of this tree is a bonsaitalk, I will shoot her a PM and see if she has any interest in popping over here with any updates or info for you Nigel.

Wes, I thought this tree was at Bonsai West. Was it sold?

Yes, Candy Shirey acquired this tree from Nick Lenz. Nick was gracious enough to allow us to feature a gallery of his work at AoB as well as a profile, his work is indeed inspiring. Candy also has a gallery there, I am not certain which gallery has the tree above, but they are both here http://artofbonsai.org/galleries/index.php.

Spooky is not a verb I would have used to decribe this tree either, but I can see why some would. Nick Lenz is truly a genius of American Bonsai, his style is unique with bonsai as well as with his pottery.

Candy Shirey is a rarity in American bonsai as well. A true patron of the art and a advid collector of quality bonsai, she is exactly what American bonsai needs more of.
