Got this holly today and thought it had good taper. Took a few pictures too!

Nope its a holly...that's what I thought when I first saw them but its definitely a holly!
 
Boxwoods generally have a good rootspread a softer older looking bark that's flaky and this has smooth bark and the roots are swollen and tangled underneath like holly.
 
A very easy was to tell the difference between boxwood and holly is boxwood has an opposite leaf pattern and all hollies have alternating leaf patterns.
