Queen of the Nuts
Here is a wintering bench that was just built for this winter season. The top is durabench that is hinged, so it can raise for watering, and also for putting the plants in place. The bottom has durabench with mulch under it, and sides to keep the mulch in place around the pots. I put screening on top of the durabench in the bottom to keep the top mulch from getting out the grating. I left about a 1/2" of space between the two mulch layers to allow better drainage. I've had issues with the pots staying too wet when buried in the soil. So I dreamed this up. We will see how it works. I've also had issues with glazed pots becoming discolored in mulch, don't know what to do with that.... Any ideas?
