Olive

What olive plants are the best for bonsai?

Where is
Spock ?

So I use One I found going locally, a rough barked unnamed ...of course. Growing by a fence, bird dropped I recon. I have made countless clones.

my favorite other wise is the San Fernando , very tiny leaves
Never fruits in 2 decades. Generally the fruiters seem to have bigger leaves and internodes

no, and they're in Greece, so not likely legal to import either.

check with Dave Lowman (a call might be quicker than an email...tell him hi for me). He likes olives. he only has one on his website right now (which is not a $600 tree), but may have others growing:

You might also check with Brent...he lists 2.75 pots at $10, but if you email him, he might have something bigger to sell you: http://www.evergreengardenworks.com/malus.htm

Nah. Come spring, go your local nursery instead, they get their delivery of new stock then and you will have much better choice. For about $75.00 you can get one in a 20 gallon or bigger with base of 3" to (if you are lucky) 6".

Maybe your local nursery...;-)

i mean varieties. also where would i be able to get old olive stumps liveing up in the northeast? http://www.chartaolives.com/html/olive_trees.html

Search out people with olive trees they want removed. One old olive tree can be split into up to a dozen excellent pre - bonsai stumps.
Try a Craigslist ad offering to remove old olive trees for free.
I've been able to collect three old trees so far and I've turned them into a couple of dozen good pieces of bonsai material. Here's one: http://bonsainut.com/forums/showthread.php?7699-Fat-Ollie&highlight=Ollie

Again olive trees aren't grown up north i can't just go get them. If anyone here has any for sale that would be cool. I would love a fruiting type
