Yeah it is a bigger variety that I'm hoping to get the leaves to reduce in the future.I wouldn't prune it after repot....
Looks to be a bigger leaf\flower variety?
Reckon let run and put on some size/health.
I don't think you are supposed to repot with flowers....?
I've only heard before and after....
Maybe cut em off?
Sorce
And, the raining stopped?when it stops raining.
Prune the branches down to a couple inches, where possible try to cut a couple inches past where it splits of to multiple smaller branches from the larger main branches to avoid really large wounds. If it is just one large branch going up and it doesn't split until high off the base you may not be able to avoid a large scar, but they take forever to heal over usually and it is never going to look the same as the rest of the bark where it heals...Repoted my azalea and would like to get opinions on pruning it. Let me know if some more pictures would help. Pictures is what I would consider the front.

Looks like Kurume Hershey Red maybe, but hard to tell.
I would say any Azaleas are fine for Bonsai except some of the large "loose" Kiusianum that are so common in landscapes around the south and perhaps some of the indigenous rhododendron that lose their leaves in Fall and grow huge leaves with massive flower clusters... Beyond that, almost all varieties I have worked on seem suitable, react well to training and make decent bonsai.
This one looks like a fine option
