So. Hello people. I thought I'd share a few pics of these bald cypress that I've been "managing" since this last winter. Basically while collecting a few of these guys in November I'd decided to try an experiment. I trunk chopped some nice baldys but decided to leave them where they are. I just wanted to see how they'd do as far as rebuilding themselves. So rather than doin roots and foliage I figured let's see if they'd respond better by just leaving them where they were. So far its they are doing amazing. And I realize that this will make the whole process alot longer but what the heck right. All the ones that I left are twice as far a long as the ones i brought home. So when i go to actually collect them this winter i feel like I'm ahead of the game as far as branches. I've also been trenching them a few months apart for each side. Four total per tree with the final side being done in July. This i hope will give me more feeder roots to collect with them. Tell me what yall think.

Sorry lol. Here's the pics

I did that same thing to a couple of trees I had my eye on but didn't feel like collecting. They're in a corner of my backyard that I never even see. Choppy-chop, see what happens. I meant to look at them last weekend but haven't yet. Someone remind me! lol.

Yea I really liked doin it this way. I've even brought fert out there to each tree. I've been also pinching off the weakest branches or ones I know will have to go. It also gives me a year to prepare for their collection. I realize that this isnt necessary to make a great tree but I'm hoping it gets me ahead in the end.
