Princess Persimmons for sale?

There was someone on here...can't remember who...who was selling batches of princess persimmon seedlings last year. If I can track down who that was I'll post it. Maybe try searching in the selling sub-forum if you haven't already.

Julian Adams at Adams bonsai sometimes has them for sale. Not sure what you mean by "unestablished" though.

edit to add - it was bwaynef who was selling them here. No idea if he still has any.

Hey, thank you for going out of your way to help me with this. By unestablished, I mean pre-bonsai....probably wouldve been better to use that term! Couldnt hurt to check with BWAYNEF and see if there are any left. Is that a chojubai flower in your profile picture? Very pretty!

I don't have any for sale right now. I'm far enough into the waiting process to find out which ones are female that I've just decided to hold onto them for a few more years. I *think* the ones I have are 4 years old. I'm hoping to start some more from seed next year.

That makes sense, thanks for the reply and the "phone a friend"! I read the ones from seed will have a lot of phenotypical variance. Do you think that's true based on what you're seeing?

Too many trees, not enough time. Folks are welcome to contact Matt Reel directly for inquiries as he is helping to style and sell persimmons. Hopefully @JEads can come grab a truck load as well!

Commonly known as Date-Plum

Sorry. Here are Diospyros rhombifolia, females for sale. Since we don’t cultivate these plants in our yard, wondering if folks grow males with them, or merely use gibberelic acid

Am not sure what to say here. Hoarder mentality is hard to cure. Isn't this nursery was featured by @Bonsai Nut a few months ago. Not sure the size of the plant for 6 quart.
Thanks for the link.

Hey everybody, thank you for the replies here. I ended up going with the 4 quart from camellia forest nursery since it was only a $5 bump up from the 2 quart and same shipping cost. Figured I might as well get the bigger one. Hopefully I’m able to get some cuttings or air layers off of it. Alright I’m done buying plants now I swear…don’t tell my wife lol.

Is anyone here familiar with the other Princess Persimmon variety on Camellia Forest Nursery's website? It is called "Diospyros Rhombifolia Diamond-Leaf"? I'm assuming, it is some sort of alternate phenotype. Any1 familiar with how that variety came to be ?

Seems to be a widely cultivated variety in China

Cheers

Thanks for you input, DSD!! Although, I am specifically asking about the "diamond leaf" version of the princess persimmon. I am wondering how that came to be! I'm guessing the diamond leaf was discovered in a similar batch to the original princess persimmon, although would need to do some more digging to confirm. Was trying to rule out Camellia forest discovering new phenos via seed sprouting since I have read that sprouting these from seed can be hit or miss. Seed consistency likely is fairly dependent on the characteristics of the male plant used....if too dissimilar to Princess persimmon, likely the progeny will also be different one would think.
