With my junipers, shimpaku, nana and needle growing like crazy would someone please bring some clairity to how to prune? Pinch, don't pinch, don't cut," all the energy in the tips". Ive been trying to read as much as I can but its confusing. If possible any illistrations would help. Also what time of year can or should this be done. I just hate those brown tips that come a week after pruning and seem to last all season.

I have hedged prebonsai material. It allows for everything to start grow in uniformed pads. Looks bad at first, but then you can start using The other methods mentioned here to keep it uniform and nice looking going forward.
