Pushing the limits, Nana Juniper tanuki thread.

If the vein was real I could afford this tree and to be honest this size trees don’t exist in the UK. (Deadwood is 6ft)
this is a topic that they discussed on the latest episode of A Bonsai Sidequest—Australia doesnt have deadwood like this either, so they considered rethinking thoughts on tanuki.

It’s a good option although it’s never going to be the same as a real old tree :)

Innovative, fresh - financially attainable 'old'.
How did you make the live vein? I wonder if this can be done with beading construction glue and smoothing one side.

Hi, I’ve carved it into the deadwood, then a stain and wood hardener to try and preserve the deadwood.

This is a close up from the tanuki vein, for a trained eye should be easy to spot the difference.

Well that's a lot of work! Driftwood would have to be structurally sound. I mostly lie the idea of a bonsai with a hidden pot, and just glued to a surface or wood.
Is your live one in there or roots are in the stump?

The roots are on the back as a normal tanuki, the wood used on this project is juniper wood, it’s a root from a large tree.
