Recently visited the Royal Botanical Gardens in Madrid, Spain. They had a very nice bonsai collection, well over 100 fully refined specimens. It was very hot, especially up on the terrace where they have them displayed, but I would say it was well worth the visit. They had many traditional pieces, but also a great selection of local favorites (European Olives, Pomegranates, etc.) and some unusual species (poison oak!). I definitely recommend making the trip if you are in the area, access to the gardens is very affordable.

And finally, my favorite three. The poison oak is a very unusual specimen, first I had seen of this species. The grape was interesting, I myself am training some native grapes as bonsai.

Great pics! Thanks for sharing. I've seen this collection several times through the years. Happy to see the trees are well maintained and doing well.

Not sure what your travel plans may be, but highly recommend you to go visit the bonsai museum in Alcobendas which us about 30 mins from downtown Madrid. The museum houses some truly spectacular trees. While you're at it, you should go visit the garden of David Benavente which is also not far from Madrid. Another incredible place to see!

Enjoy and safe travels!
