I have had this Redwood for 2 years, and its 28" tall. I figure in about 10 years I could have a nice tree, if I don't kill it. I've chopped around 40 " off. One of the biggest problems that I am having is on the one side of the tree, as you can see in the pictures, the branches grow out a couple of inches and then die. I should repot it when in gets cooler here in Nov.

I would appreciate all comments and suggestions on what to do, or maybe give it away?

Robert--I would hold off on repotting the tree this fall; I found the best time to repot them in the southwest is March. It's hard to see any detail of the trunk from your photos but it looks like the trunk needs more taper. Without seeing any detailed photos it looks like you could reduce the height of the tree by 1/2 or 14". It also looks like the style for such a straight trunk should be formal upright.

Thanks Greg. Your right, any time after march or even before the trees out here start leafing out. I hope i can make a go out of this tree.
