Is this a thing? What I mean is can it be done like when you prep a juniper for showing? I read this post by Jonas and the bark of my cypress seems similar. The only other question is should I? I like the color of the younger newly exposed bark but the old bark certainly shows it’s age. Here’s the link to Jonas’s post, assuming it’s ok to do so. Pics of my tree below.
