I am heading to nursery this weekend and looking to get about 12 trees for $100, mix of junipers and pines. I really want to practice repotting, I have all the materials, tools, soil, pots ready and want to give it a go. I am in Korea.

I know now is not the best time for it, but if I am going to take ~5 of the 12 trees to practice my first repotting/root exploration experience, is it better to do so now, or in August? ie, since I am late (past Spring), do it as soon as possible, or is there a late August window that is better than July?

Thank you!

Best time IMO. I have only killed one pine at this time because it was bare rooted and abused. But another, done the same, lived.

Wait till this or the next full moon, after these it is too late for 100% safety.

Don't cut any foliage.

100% Juniper success and that is reducing roots by 60-80%.

Repotting in spring is for lames!😜

Why would moon’s phase have any effect whatsoever?

You can repot a juniper anytime its actively growing.
Pines can be done in spring just before buds open or in late summer into early fall. If you have harsh winters early is better than late.
Harsh as in snow and freezing temperatures by the beginning of November with lows in January and February like mine.
