Now what kind of idiot would put a Brown Turkey fig in a bonsai pot?
Well, the kind of fool who stuck a cutting from a yard tree into a pot.
Did not repot. Didn't want to even THINK about it. The soil was harder than a Rubik Cube.
But yesterday....after having repotted EVERYTHING that's gonna get a repot, I said "Hey, how about that dumb FIG?"

CHISELED it out of the pot. Surprised it didn't just break out. Had a dirty pot on the table so I ripped, chunked, hacked, and ended up with only fine roots.

We'll see.

Oh yeah....also used USED SOIL !!

It'll probably THRIVE. 🤪🤬

Ficus carica is tough. Big leaves but responds to all bonsai techniques and as you have found will grow in almost anything. They germinate and grow in the cracks of my bonsai benches with no soil at all and appear to be resistant to glyposate.
