Will ro water remove chlorine or perhaps add carbon filter.Ro seems the way to go for my hydro room....drain to waste.
City water has chlorine.....have to check ec tonight....any suggestions for smaller system 20-50 gallons per day.
I have rain, but not enough to make it through winter months.
Thank you!

RO removes everything. But RO is expensive. I wouldn't trust any RO system for $100. A sink mounted RO system is generally $400-500.

You may not trust it, but the components used are the same ones. Same name brand filters and membranes. RO is not expensive, unless you want it to be. You could build your own even cheaper if you wanted.

With a good RO system you can probably still get away with using 50/50 RO/tap.
It really depends on how your city is treating water; chlorine is different than chloroamine.

Did you actually do a water analysis using your $100 system?

Im liking this so far as I have plenty of rainwater during warm months
I may need an inline pressurizer

I believe the Philadelphia (PA) Water Department uses chloramine.

Chloramine must be removed from the water with a GAC (granular activated carbon) filter followed by a reverse osmosis or Cation filter. Note: The GAC filtration filters out only the chlorine from the chloramine molecule leaving the ammonia behind.

Chloromine is rough stuff!
I just got the micri 75 unit above and states it will remove the chloramine with the filter upgrade I believe.

Got this entry level device ....American made stuff, good reviews.I think its hydrofarm.
Price was right....I have tons of rainwater during warm months...This will be a great help...no more rain dances.Keep the winter hydro room going.

;)I grew up drinking the stuff... AKA "Schuylkill Punch". I hope you plan to drink your RO water instead of the municipal cocktail mix!

I used RO systems when I used to do tropical fish. While the RO system does great at filtering out stuff it wastes A LOT of water. And you have to be careful of the "ratings" for RO systems. The ratings are done with room temperature water and high pressure pumps pumping the water to the RO system. If you just hook up a cold water tap to the RO unit it significantly increases the waste water.

A good RO system should deliver water with a resistence of around 18 megohoms. Water only conducts electricity when it contains ions from dissolved salts, etc. Remove them all and the resistance of the water increases. Then it's just a matter of figuring out the volume of water you need per hour or per day. The one for my lab produces 10 liters per hour, and costs $8,500.

Cool! I have enough water pressure.

I am relieved I do not have to buy a$200 booster pump.
I am just above the 40 psi minimum for this to work properly.
I can see at least a couple gal. Pr /hr with this flow.
Not sure how much I will need when I get a few hundred seedlings in 4” pots later this Winter, but I will get by 🙃

Glad I have rainwater though during growing season....this a nice backup though.

works good at 42psi.
I get about 2.5 gallons an hr.That is good for me.
Will put on a timer to turn on an hr or two before I get home. Will put in spare bath for emergency drain.
I also got an extra post dissolved solids filter,so I can have ultra pure water!
