Want to start a separate progress thread for this tree. This was a rescue that I obtained three years ago along with a couple of Tamarix all potted in a large plastic tub. The Tamarix were separated and I have a thread for that.

This silk floss has gained strength and has been growing well in its wooden pot that I put it in 3 years ago. I understand these are hard to be trained as bonsai but I like the tree as is, dropping all its leaves every winter and throwing a few leaves at the top during growing season. Any tips for growing, pruning, wiring etc. will be deeply appreciated.

Can you chop these back hard? Do they readily back bud? Never had one.
