I think this is what this bush is. I find it occasionally, and have taken more notice of it since I started looking for trees to collect in the spring. I found this patch near where I work, and only recall seeing it on other time since June. I been looking at prairie native thorny bushes, and think I have it narrowed down. My only doubt, it the lack of berries/fruit. Any one care to educate me, or offer another opinion? I already considered Flowering Foemina, but reserve the right to change that thought in spring IF it flowers
mass of thorns!
trunk is a little over 3" dia.
top of leaves. I'm not sure if these buds are next years flowers? There is no indication of red or orange berries... That is my only doubt.
