I'm looking for a decent, reasonably-priced suppliers of good sphagnum moss online. I looked at all of my local stores and couldn't find it there. I have found several suppliers online but don't know what I'm dealing with in terms of quality. Any feedback on this would be helpful as I'm looking to do several air-layers this Spring.

Thanks,
Dan

Do you have any bogs or lowlands near you? It can be collect (with permission of course) from the edges of waterways. Just be sure to wear gloves.

What are you trying to use it for? Just for air layers and stuff Or, are you to alking about living moss to grow on the soil surface?

They have it at Lowe's and Home Depot around me- labeled "sheet moss" I think.. I only need to buy a Bag every year or so for air layers and stuff...

Mosser Lee long fibered sphagnum from the depot.

Cut short. Real short. Blended!

Unfortunately neither my Home Depot or Menards carries Sphagnum Moss. It's always Sphagnum Peat Moss, or other types of decorative mosses but no sphagnum. Perhaps I'll see if I can by directly from Mosser Lee on line.

I use the New Zealand long fiber Spagmoss for air layers and on top of soil and it works great. I stock up and buy on eBay. It's dehydrated and usually shipped free.

MidMich,

Sometimes I miss it . May want to check again. You can order online too and have it shipped to your depot. I reckon.

It's usually by the orchids at Lowes/Home Depot. I've seen it at Walmart too when they have the garden center up and running. The stuff I've had is the same as what everyone else uses according to that picture.
