I am a gay male in Chicago. I am not at all concerned about what the courts do, let them try to interfere with my life. Was a Chicago cop until the idiot former mayor of Chicago tried to force all city employees including police and fire to be vaccinated against the scam in 2020, which I allowed her to terminate my employment on the advice of the Local FOP union, who filed a class action lawsuit in behalf of 900 police who refused to comply and got terminated, getting us each a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT SETTLEMENT AGAINST THE CITY OF $600,000 each. It may be nice to have an official paper stating marrige, but it really is unnecessary as 2 people can be married without it. The paper does not bring love or commitment. I for one do not want to be on my partners health insurance, and happy that I no longer have any thru the city. After the scam of 2020, and this extremely harmful vaccination they continue to push on people, I have no intention of ever having or going to a personal physician again, there is nothing a male need to be screened for, and if something would occur that is why we have ambos and emergency rooms for treatment.

Main thing is to enjoy life, enjoy our hobbies which in my case are bonsai, salt water reef aquariums, have 3 of a 100 gallons each and ham radio. The only ham radio I will carry is the same as active police and still get the benefits of people thinking I am police, daily free starbucks, discounts at my favorite eating establishments and being left alone by the undesirables on the city's public train system. We go out to Chicago's boystown nightly to the clubs, different events like pride fest, market days, the parade without concerns what the public think of our lifestyle. Of course being former police I have the best carry permit so I do not ever leave home without the Glock and an extra mag or 2.... but would be doing that if I was straight, the current city mayor and governor of this state have caused law abiding citizens to carry by catering to the criminal element in cook county, chicago, and the state of illinois.

BY THE WAY CONGRATS ON GETTING MARRIED, ENJOY A LONG LIFE TOGETHER AND MOST IMPORTANT HAVE FUN AND DO NOT WORRY ABOUT WHAT ANY GOVERNMENT DOES.

Being a military man who grew up in Kansas, I have seen plenty of bigotry against non-straight people. It reeks of insecurity and cowardice.

I'm a bit sad I didn't see this thread sooner. Had to skim over a few parts, for obvious reasons. I'm in awe of the courage it takes to be truthful in the face of bigotry, religious zealotry, and even losing family.

I basically just wanted to let you guys know that I fully support and welcome you.

@shohin_branches CONGRATS!!! I'm really happy for you! May your lives together be long, happy, fun, and fulfilling! Cheers! 🍻🍾🥂

Congrats on getting married.

Not for nothing, sounds like a lot of political discussion here with all this Supreme Court and “current administration” talk. Didn’t y’all complain to the moderator about my political comments being inappropriate on the bonsai site? Hmmmm, double standard much?

As you opened the door, I’ll say I told you so. Believe it or not, this is the society that you helped build. We don’t have the same sexual preferences, but we are both the “other”. Only a moron would believe that, being an “other, they could discriminate and isolate an “other” and this won’t reverberate right back to them.

I stood with the LGB community for over 20 years. But you won’t let me stand with you anymore and still maintain my identity, and so I will not stand with you this time around. You taught me that the only way over is through. I am now “intersectional” with the right. And I am so far from alone. Thank you for the education.

Ummm... that's great for you, but I don't want my partner to have to pay inheritance tax on my assets should something happen to me. As I'm getting older I know I'm not invincible and I want her to be able to keep our house if I'm gone. My partner is a freelance photographer paying for her own insurance, which is expensive. I have many friends that are married couples with kids and they need that piece of paper so the non-birth parent can be recognized as the child's legal guardian and all the things that go with it.

Sorry the T is required in LGBT, you don't get to just drop it out of hate. We are a community. You are free to make a separate thread to air your non-LGBT grievances but please stop hijacking this one. This is not an open invitation for you to put your hate and ignorance on us.

I'm politely requesting that you move along and unfollow this thread.

Same. I'm an ally to all my fellow humans. I don't understand why anyone would want to stop love. dark times for sure, if you don't love...love what do you love? hate?

This is something so many ignore, acting as if legal marriage is symbolic and religious. No, the reason the bigots want to erase gay marriage is specifically to disadvantage those they hate, no different than redlining or two-timing tribal treaties.

We didn’t care about you talking about “politics” just that you were sharing unwelcome views in a space we made for us. Queer folk don’t have the luxury of thinking of some discussions as political and others as not, but we can certainly ask you take them elsewhere. And that’s what we’re doing yet again, politely I might add.
Don't feed the trolls.
Always a good reminder. Blocklists work quite well, especially if no one replies.

to have to pay inheritance tax on my assets should something happen to me

Well put. however me and my partner have the mutual understanding that we will NEVER pay a cent of inheritance tax ever. In fact I made sure to put my lawsuit settlement in an off shore fund, that pays me $1200 a month, no tax and un reported. I will NOT file a dime in taxes until this country compensates all of us for unlawfully and unconstitutionally stripping us of our rights from 2020 thru 2022 and attempted to force us to be vaccinated and take precautions over a non existent virus. I for one am happy I am not police any more in this state and especially the city of chicago since the mayor, governor and states attorney are all on the side of the criminals and in fact if this alleged pandemic was so contagious and so dangerous..... why did the city and state allow over a million illegals here, and not only allow them to come here, allow them to take up residence in our police station districts lobbies, basically creating a non safe space for the working police in chicago, to where we couldnt even use our own district break room without being harassed by them for money, as well as being exposed to whatever they were carrying? The $3,000 stimulus checks the former administration sent out hardly covers our rights being stripped, and the $600,000 lawsuit settlement is nice but does not cover our right to not do anything medical. and constitutional right of not being forced to be subject to disciplinary action for refusal to comply with getting a poison vaccination. Once again the current administration wants to send compensation to citizens, and congress will not allow it. The federal government wrongly thinks they have control over us, and don't realize if they try anything like in 2020.... there are more of us then them, and they wont like the results.

I will never spend one cent on medical insurance, as it is unnecessary. plenty of emergency rooms that cannot refuse treatment, and will not be subjected to harassment over refusal to have any vaccinations ever again, as I absolutely do not trust the medical community.

Once again congrats on getting married, wish you all the best. We all need to stick together and not allow the government any form of control over any of us.

Please take this conspiracy theory junk discussion to the teahouse where it belongs, and do not fill this thread with it.

So that I understand - when a foreign corrupt entity (like the UN) makes pronouncements about me, you seem to parrot that. I am simply parroting what my president/government pronounced about you. So no more T, no more Q, no more plus. And I will be the “occupier” and “baby killer”. Deal?

Why dont you guys make the rule and we can apply it consistently. Do we simply follow the majority when they take rights away from people for political expediency or do we stand up for these rights? Because politicians on the left have now also consistently dropped the T. For example, Rahm Emmanuel and Gavin Newsom to name just 2. They are taking rights away from people for political expediency as T is a losing issue at the polls. You know what, Jews are a losing issue at the polls. I’m not taking about Israel/palestine, I’m talking about being openly discriminated against as an American in America simply for being Jewish (and much of the world is simply not safe for me anymore because of how I identify). So tell me, do we follow political expediency or not? I will follow your lead.

@dbonsaiw, look, I don't necessarily agree with everything in this thread says, so I limit myself to positive comments.

Jumping in to rub contrarian thoughts in others' faces is just rude, and there's no excuse for rudeness. Take it to the argument thread.

Look, I don’t care. you want safe spaces, go to a college campus. Or keep the threads to bonsai topics. Folks want to share their opinions on what’s going on in the world, so do I. People are not owed a space to spew one sided nonsense. That time has passed. I don’t care if you like me or disagree with me. Ignore me if you choose. Block me. It makes little difference to me.

And “rude” is simply One opinion. In the real world, many LGB find my points quite persuasive. Do you even know what I do? I don’t believe I’m being “rude” by pointing out the obvious - the LGB got drunk on a new found voice, chose to be the useful idiots of radical Islam and helped create the very society that will now turn around and deprive them of rights.

As an “other” I can share some advice - never create a blueprint for prejudice because it will be used against you. Because when it’s ok to refuse service to Jews, to block Jews from school etc do you really believe that the LGB will be spared? Let me be “rude” again - you won’t and unfortunately you are now being shown that.

I seriously suspect that you're a troll trying to mock the Jewish cause rather than support it, by portraying them as lunatic fanatics.

And when someone announces a wedding, you either congratulate them without any 'ifs' or 'buts,' or you stfup.
