The species of tree you take to Mars.

If you can only take one species of tree with you to Mars... which one would you choose?

I know there are many that I liked but for me Japanese Maple is my choice.

I would have to say Chinese elm. It’s already invasive here so I’m thinking it would take over mars as well.

You'd think that a botanist would know that potatoes aren't trees, too...

Fwiw, it's a toss up between Japanese maples and Japanese White pine... today

So you opted out too
By the time they get there, if still alive (takes a day or more to get there),
their roots would be grasping the foliage with zero gravity.
Now if we could take them to Heaven instead of in the heavens with us, that changes everything.
I most certainly would not opt out, and would bring my JWPs and junipers.

Lol why not ask what tree species are your favorite or the one you would have if you could only have one regardless of what planet...

My favorite is scotts pine and if I could only have one, that is what I'd have.
I'll stay here on earth though. Too cold and not enough atmosphere on Mars...
