The Tree Thread

Just repotted my Ginko. Sam Miller pot (13.5"x9.75"x2.25")View attachment 285376
that is a very nice combination Arjun, I think when the leaves turn it'll be a color explosion!

Just a pic of a natural nebari over log tree from recent trip to S.Oregon. And an amazing fern garden on a huuuuge Coast Redwood.

I’m about 1/3 of the way through my first styling of a new-to-me Japanese Larch grown by Telperion (and purchased from a BSOP friend). I’m pulling all of the branches down and giving them a triangular shape. They had become a little unkempt in recent years.

Current status: (on a turntable I built this winter)

It has about 8 cones:

My yamadori Engelmann Spruce got its first nice pot. It’s from the Mt. Hood National Forest, collected by M. Reel and B. Curtright in 2017. Pot by Vicki Chamberlain.

True to the species, the foliage pops upward after wire is removed. This fall it will get another round of wire to bring the branches downward like an alpine tree.

The shadow effect... wowser! Love it .. love this tree.

One, that is far from done. I need to address the tip of the dead trunk I left on from 2014 cut back. Allowing natural weeping on this one. Once it grows out it will weep down again. Since it's the natural characteristic of this species.

Weeping Ryusen Maple...15 1/2" round pot. Nebari is 10". So I need to find a pot smaller and more suited. My goal for 2021 repot.

Anyways...

Let’s get The Tree Thread back on the first page, shall we.

The earliest spring I’ve seen since moving to Kansas has a few trees starting to wake up, so I took the opportunity to put a couple into real bonsai pots. If you’re thinking that maybe they’re a little underdeveloped still for a bonsai pot, you’re probably right. But my wife won’t let me get more pots until I fill up what I have...

First is a lil boxwood that I’ve managed to keep alive for a couple of winters now. Sporting a @Soldano666 pot.

Next we have my WalMart ficus rocking another @Soldano666.

Finally, we have “Snowdrift” crabapple from Evergreen Gardenworks in what is probably one of the last pots John Cannon sold/shipped before falling off the face of the earth. I’m really excited to see the white flowers with the pot and will definitely post more pictures when it happens.

Thanks for reading my novel.

A much better image. Thanks to @Vin , @MACH5 and @William N. Valavanis . With Mr. Valavanis going so far to get in there and create a begining of an apex.. and selecting a few more cuts for a better shape.

I truly am blessed by those in my bonsai circle. Appreciate you all.
