The Tree Thread

Something I grew from a tiny cutting. Still a long way to go. Styled it today.
Nice fig Dorrothy.

some fall color

Here is my ginkgo tree. Not sure what style you'd call this other than just plain fun. The roots get better every year, I know it's a bit tall for itself, but I really like this tree.

Nice Judy. No fall color on the benches here yet, but landscape trees are trying, so it won't be long...

Had to dig in my trip file to find this one I saw this year in Colorado growing in a crack. Has a cascading low branch as a surprise when you get below the rock.

All because I wanted to say how much I love love love that ginkgo you have, and can't wait to see the color Brian.

Even more impressive is if I'm not mistaken that gingko is from seed!! Gotta love flame style.

Prostrata juniper when I got it and 2nd pic is as it sat maybe two months ago. I gave it some wire to get pads but broke a branch. Doh!

So many nice trees! But, I have to say... I love your ginkgo Judy! The whole composition is lovely. Nice and simple :)

It has taken years to attempt to make something good of this tree. It was me that had to grow not the tree. Maybe next year I can finally get it into a container that will do it justice.

Chinese - Japanese STYLE

I always wanted to design a juniper in a Chinese Japanese style ..;)

Best,
Dorothy

Ever wonder what bonsai would look like if we were smaller?

Happy Fall from Wyoming!

Brian I'm very jealous of your ume! I just got a hokkai bungo that's about to bloom to but it's just a couple years old so it's still small and a stick in the ground lol

EDIT: adding a tree picture

We are tryin to keep this post going. It is called the tree thread meaning that you have to post a picture of a tree every time you make a post here.

Hinoki Cypress before I started to take the tree really serious and do some major work on it. AND as nice as it is your blog address does not count.

Today. Still some work to do.

Some of the chops involved in the transformation.

I am working with my hayabusa, a cork bark JBP. I've removed the spike on top, finally (thanks, BVF, for the suggestion and the persistence to make the suggestion several times), and rotated it so the branches and limbs can be seen. Though important to the tree, the foliage is of less visual interest to me than the support structure.
