The Tree Thread

I can see you get your trees from Japan. I know a tree from Japan when I see it.
Well done.

Thanks. Maybe they were from Japan at one point? I've never bought anything from Japan before; although I occasionally have plants imported from Vietnam.

Shimpaku Juniper in training since early 90"s

Vance this one is for you, since you like pictures and junipers.
This juniper has been styled ones only. I just chopped all the long branches and I am growing new ones. Ones they grow I shall start styling according to a plan. I love your juniper. I am more traditional in styling them. You are more into natural style. Am I correct?

I am kind of a naturalist but this tree looks a little less tidy because it is in it's running wild resting phase. I love your Juniper.. Simpaku?

Here is another. This one repotted earlier this year.

I love this one better.
It is Itoigawa shimpaku. Very compact foliage.
I forgot I am supposed to post a tree. Had to edit my post.

Not a very often seen bonsai here:
Eonimus that I trimmed 2 month ago, carved and this is the new growth.

Seeing that you like my Junipers here is another one, or two. The first is a version of the tree just posted previously, the second has been around for a while but this is about two years into design from a nursery plant;

Nice tree but I am so into conifers paying attention to the other stuff is often difficult for me.

Dorothy,
What is the species? I am completely unfamiliar with
what this is. I'm no slouch on id but not all species are
so familiar to all of us.
a.

I believe it is a Brazilian rain tree. A picture of my Korean hornbeam wired this past November.

OK then here is a juniper for you since you like them. Just started the shari on this one but have not taken picture of it yet.
I can see You know what you are doing.
This is a ROR I wired to the smallest branch but it still needs lots of work. Some of the branches need to be grown before they are reduced, So they are sticking up. I also need to lower the sides of the apex, but that will be done ones they grow longer. The first primary branch has guy wire now (after the picture)

Left lower pad, not yet perfect, but getting there.

Check out this old Japanese maple on the grounds of the biltmore house. They had these old guys all over. Lace leaf I believe. People are standing behind it to give you perspective. I read that these were some of the first trees they planted when the house was built. That would make them over 100 years old.

Happy new year everyone!
Nice juni Dorothy....but yours are always nice!
A trident ROR wired and trimmed. I am a bit lost with this one. The branches are going all the way around the stone,so not too sure what to do with it.

Azalea

Here is a little azalea I picked up at a craft fair.
Doing good so far, however I haven't had the best of luck with azaleas.

A tanuki I made 2013 from melaleuka. Plan to style it like JBP. and have lots of fun. For now I am just clipping it and will do metsumi and wire later. It seems it has fused nicely to the dead wood.
I repotted it a week ago and changed the planting angle.DSC08439 (550x413).jpg
