Yes, but it is dark and allows for the details of the tree to show up, where a light or cluttered and confused background will distor and destrou the image you are trying to display.

I don't know poop about this cultivar, but from what I know of Mugos this Mugo looks pretty dead, even Miracle Max couldn't resurrect this one.

Finished tidying up this tall (75cm) Scots pine. Plan for this year is to increase density in the foliage pads, staying within the existing silhouette. Then a more appropriate pot for it next year I think. Apex will be developed slightly to the right to improve the balance in the crown.

Garden juniper. Itoigawa foliage grafted on last summer. Waiting for it to recover from digging (some 5 years ago) and potting in substrate (some 2-3 years ago) and waiting for the grafts to show convincingly they have taken. 10 years ahead.
