I arrived home from work one afternoon earlier this summer to discover that a thunderstorm had caused a limb from an oak to fall and land on my favorite shohin satsuki. Half of the apex and one of the main branches were broken off. The second photo shows its recovery, but I haven't gotten lucky on a new main branch sprouting. Maybe this spring...

Every time I hear the wind is coming more than 10 MPH, I go outside and start moving trees. My wife thinks I'm nuts. Well she thinks I'm nuts for lots more than moving trees in the wind...but I digress.

I know just what this feel like. I vowed it would never happen again.

I just learned my lesson last week, we had winds at night that woke me up and the next day i found a couple trees knocked over and one blown 5 feet from the bench. It was a ponderosa that must have landed upside down and then bounced. We'll see if any damage occurred next spring... that's why i hate ponderosa sometimes, they respond so slowly to everything, even dying...

Soon you'll never even know what happened to your satsuki. Beautiful little tree by the way.

Good thing it was only the tree!

When the wind blows here, my trees fall three stories.
Last one was bad. ROR. Rock broke! Tree fine!

Nice tree.

Bungee cords anyone? They won't stop a limb but will keep your trees on your benches. Learned this from Judy if I remember right. Great tip!

It's karma, man...you gotta start drinking better beer:cool:! Seriously, though, that's a bummer. I've been whistling past the graveyard for over 5 years now with all the large maples and oaks that line the perimeter of my bonsai area.

LOL, Dav4. PBR is my "working beer", I prefer a good dark beer for my "chilling out" beer.

Thanks for the comments everyone, if I don't get a new branch where I want it, I have a back up plan, I think. Now it's off to the beer store to see if I can change my Karma.
