looks like a trident to me... anyways if its not a weed I usually let it ride for a while, it should be easy to pull out and repot if ya want.

There's no problem transferring little seedlings like this into a new pot. You can trim the roots a lot while they are small without harm. I do hundreds of maples at this stage every year. It will certainly grow better if you give it some room on its own. The roots on your larger maple will be competing with the little on all summer if you leave it there.

I transferred this little girl into her own container and tucked her away behind an elm and my Amur maple.

She’ll receive indirect light and be hidden from birds. Hopefully she’ll survive ?
