Very pleased with the Chinese Quince...

I really like this tree as well as most of the others you've shown us. IMHO I think you've done a good job on that knub.
Thank ya kindly. I love scars on a trunk that tells a story. This one shows it has one. They don't heal scars well. But can be done. Why spend years on healing a scar...when I prefer them? So thanks.

Once they start going, they go and can fatten considerably. :). Also the scar on the left CAN close over. But you need to really remove the stump in order to do that. For this, a better carving bit is needed for your dremel.
Their native carving bits are too fine for the work we do. (Take a peek, I just now posted a video in my general thread so you can see how easily the wood can be removed: https://www.bonsainut.com/threads/jelle-aka-leatherback-bonsai-bash.63105/post-1198595)

Thx. This shows that I should start doing something with mine.
Been allowing sacrifices to run for the past 4, 5 years or so to close die-back and fatten the base. Maybe it is time to start making it a bonsai.

You aren't kidding...once they get going. Shocked me how much it gained in girth this year.

I have a carving set for my dremel. I have healed scars over. That said...I'm kind of broken. Possibly because this was the first tree I took to carving. I am not sure I wish to heal it over...Instead ... I may go in and carve more details. Of course time and my mentality could change. It's good to know the wound could be healed if I ever change my thoughts on this one.
