At some point this summer I plan on a trip to Ohio. I have been wanting to visit Serpent Mound for decades, so I am planning a visit while I still can. Do any of you from Ohio, or those who are familiar with the state have any suggestions for nurseries, bonsai exhibits etc?

Don’t know how far north you are going (Cleveland area). Holden Arboretum. It’s probably 3-4 hours from serpent mound. Falls run bonsai…..me. I’m close to the border. 😄

I've been to a bonsai nursery in Toledo but, I can't recommend it. So, no Bonsai locations from me but, Hocking Hills is a pretty cool State Park if you have the time.

It's not to far from Serpent Mound. :)

Hocking Hills is awesome. If you get up to the Sandusky area, there's an interesting little nursery/greenhouse (Mulberry Creek Herb Farm) that has some a selection of starter material. Unusual varieties, mostly tropical. I spend an hour or so there every time I'm in the area -- and actually headed there today. I can't vouch for @JudyB but she seems nice! 🤣

What Judy said. I live not too far from her, Hocking Hills is pretty fantastic. We camp down there every year in the fall. Not only that, but if you get a chance to see her trees and set-up up close and personal, it’s pretty impressive

Take good notes Penumbra. I think we're heading to Hocking Hills this summer.

I give some suggestions when I have more time. If you are talking the Newark Earthworks/mounds I'm an hour East. Dawes Arboretum is Just South on SR13 half hr. with a great Japanese Garden. Bonsai Show in August I think.
