I bought a un-stylized Juniper procumbens from a Bonsai nursery a couple months ago and one of the guys there suggested for me to wait until October to do any major trimming and shaping/wiring of the tree but I'm a little impatient. I live in Northern California and it's hot, would I be okay if I start shaping, creating jin, and put in a bonsai pot?

Attached is a picture of the tree.

I tried looking up Ryan Neil and Junipers but I came up with tons of videos, is that true? Is now a good time? I will do it next weekend if so.

SugarTree. His latest stream was free and he does juniper pruning. If you are new to bonsai, I highly recommend giving his live-stream subscription a shot. I have gained so much knowledge in the three months I have been a tier 2 subscriber that I went ahead and signed up for tier 3. You will not regret a tier 2 subscription at all. It's well worth the 18 a month. heres the link to this week's stream

You can do just about anything with a procumbens juniper at this time of year.
