which rooting hormone gives better success?

Im going to try a ground layer for new roots for an American eastern Larch. Rather than a risky girdle I will opt to just make some longitudal slits around the trunk just above the poorly formed original roots. I will wrap it with spahgnum moss . Which have you found most effective --Clonex or Dip and Grow ?

I have found clonex most effective, but I have never tried it on a larch so results may vary
