Which species of Trident maple does this look like?

Smoke, I just looked up Miyasama Yatsabusa and it looks like that to lol. I'm going to try to get better pictures over the weekend of the trees.

I'm going to write a post about the difference between species, varieties, and cultivars. Because your trees are from seed they CANNOT be cultivars. They CANNOT be Miyasama Yatsabusa. They might look like it... but that's about all you can say. You have three options - the species name, or one of the two sub-species.

Here's a few more pictures I just took. I might need new glasses because I just found 8 seeds on one of my trees. I have another post about how long before a trident produces seeds now I feel dumb lol. This is the first year that I've seen any seeds.

As I mentioned earlier, the tree we have labelled as Taiwan maple over here consistently produces seed very young which makes it more likely that this is indeed Taiwan maple IMHO.
However, I have tried several times to germinate the seeds from my Taiwan maple - 0 seedlings so far.
Good luck with this. If it's a true Taiwan Trident (Acer buergerianum Miq. var. formosanum) the seeds are sterile, and almost impossible to layer
OK, the seed part fits but I have managed to strike some cuttings. Much easier than standard tridents???
Flabonsai has seeds germinate (which should not be possible according to above info) and I have no seeds but good response from cuttings (which should also not be possible) so maybe these are different forms of Trident but not true Taiwan maples?

I also have cuttings I did 2 years ago from one of the trees and they almost all took. They did seem to root easy. I actually forgot about them and they were growing in just perlite for the last 2 years and I couldn't separate them so I just stuck them in the ground together.
