Your and clicio’s mistake is to look at trees that have had recent reductions and see that as what the tree is. It is not. Trunk chops age. Some age better than others. This oak was chopped and apex regrown over 30 years. The extension will continue to improve the older the tree gets. You have to take things in perspective with chops. There more than a few excellent bonsai out there that started as trunk chops.

thanks for opening my eyes to what dedicated time can create.

i’m just massively partial to snaking and twisting trucks. especially when combined with deadwood.

in my mind, it’s a character hard to match (NOT to take anything away from the u countable, multi year projects many have dedicated themselves to
