My brazilian pepper tree didn`t loose their leaves because auttum, but because I defoliated it to check the branch structure:

What’s your secrwt to getting shorter internodes on the shirasawanum? I have one but keep getting massive internodes, and since it’s development I didn’t want to pinch but I’m seriously thinking of doing it anyway.
