That's right, another one!
I picked this one up at the National Arboretum's (DC) World Bonsai Day, which was in May, if my foggy memory serves me right....

Only fed it this year.
It grew well, though not as strong as I'd like....so it'll stay in this container for another year.

The dead section had many rotting parts....so I decided to take a Dremel to it to clean the soft stuff out and then lime sulfered the hard dead wood.

This was my first time using a Dremel, it was fun!
Not too pretty, but I am glad to be rid of the rotting wood.

Oh! And @markyscott I don't know if you remember, but we had briefly talked about that Veterinary Lime Sulfur, well I used it here.
Works well I think.
And its super concentrated, I diluted it about 50% with water, could have used less I'm sure.

It was so depthy before...

This thing has "good bones".

Sorce

You could flake away soggy pieces with your rezzed up fingernail! Lol!
Had to get it out of there!

Rezzed?

Seems a fingernail could be a delivery device to get rezzed up!, but a rezzed up fingernail?

I'm not looking it up...is rezzed a word?

Lol!

Is that white killing the look of depth now?
Any plans to gouge her out?

Don't get rezzed on LS!

I don't think it's a word, no...
Hahaha!
And yes I think I need a die grinder and a few of Mr Potter's carbide bits, and a hollow trunk is in its future...

And ya know, I suppose I could have eat it to rot the hollow for me, but I figure that may lead to unwanted fungus and disease....so I wanted to get to the hard stuff and preserve it.
I can carve later.

Seems like a nice piece of material, maybe one of the better yews you have. Further work on the deadwood will do wonders, and some branch placement. Do you have any design plans, or are you going to take your time?

No real plan for this one yet...
I think this one might be a hybrid yew, one of the "upright" types (maybe Hicks Yew), so it's growth habit is a little different from my others...

But yeah, taking it slower with this one for sure...
Might do some branch selection and placement next year, if the growth is strong.
Thanks!
