Hi guys I bought this little zelkova thinking it would be like my other zelkova but seems to be a different type? Buds and leaves looks different? Also way slower at pushing out its first growth? Any thoughts?
I put picture of my other zelkova two show how far it’s growth which started little more than two weeks ago.

Hm interesting. The buds look a lot different from my other tree. A lot bigger and leaves don’t look like normal zelkova.

btw this tree is very small around 7cm tall

Better check with your source because something is off. I seriously doubt it is a "different kind" of Zelkova.

Baloney. Why not assume it's a mis-marked or a dwarf? I think it looks healthy and I'd wait to see what I have. Which is more likely: hit with herbicide or mis-marked? Even if you guys are right, I'd want to see what it looks like with an inflated canopy.

I’ve seen a certain multi modal pesticide/fungus/fert product- Bayer 3 in 1, maybe?- do something similar to some tridents, essentially severely stunting the leaves. As far as I know, the change has been more or less permanent but I haven’t seen the trees in question for several years.

I agree, it looks like it was exposed to Roundup, or something similar. Some places will try to treat weeds in pots by painting the weeds, not the trees, with Roundup. Thinking that it will affect only the weeds. Not so. It will kill the weeds, but the weeds transfer the chemical down to the weed roots, where the tree roots absorb it. And it can then affect the tree.

It’s kinda hard to see on these pictures but the buds are sprouting differently to a normal zelkova.
Hard to tell from these pictures but tried taking some more

If this is the case. Is there a remedy?

I would love to see a dwarf Zelkova like this. Unfortunately one has never been introduced so if it exists it is exceedingly rare. I am familiar with only one introduction of a dwarf zelkova and it is called Goblin. It looks nothing like what the posters has shown. Not saying it couldn't happen but it is much more logical to assume there is another reason for this dwarfism shown by op. There is a dwarf zelkova shown in our archives here that was in a posting in 2012. Apparently it was a bit of a problem plant. You can check the archives and read about it.
If it can be proved that this is a true dwarf zelkova, I would pay good money for it. I am sure many people would. Of course this would require at least three years of growth using normal and controlled horticultural practices monitored and documented carefully.
If the plant was cheap, grow it on a few years and see what you have. If it was not, take it back for a refund.

I never did like baloney.

It resembles Ulmas 'Jacqueline Hillier'...

Which might be mistaken for a Zelcova, or the OP may have bought it as an "Elm".
