Shohin pine stock

WOW! Old school. Those are some really awesome shots, thank you for posting. The Muranaka's were the one's who got me into Bonsai in the first place. I purchased my first home in Nipomo, so I'm there alot. I'm lucky George and his father put up with me.

Some really cool pictures Al, thanks for posting. Very good people!

Good question...I got this one from George a year or two ago...think it was $10-$12:D and I'll be very curious to see how you deal with the trunk chop.

Well, in your case, you definitely need to fix that apex. You will have to bend that new leader backwards, so that the tunk line will continue without too much dislocation. You may have to cut a wedge, in order to bend it. I would not worry about hiding the scar, rather I would carve a nice shari. With pines, in almost every case it's better to create a jin and/or shari, then to try to hide any large scar.

Nice trees!
I bought an air layered JBP from Mr. Muranaka last year, couldn't be happier with it.

First wire and pruning.

That tree does look good - it will be interesting to see how it develops.
