Haha! Yeah, those lights do burn through a bit of juice but not as much as you'd think. I want to say it cost me an extra $10 per month last spring with lights running about 12 hours daily. I'm only running them for maybe 8 hours daily now and only into early December, then they go off until March.Judy that photo was taken in early November. Just posting it a little late.
That's a heck of a set up Dave! Not sure I'd want to see your electric bill!! Love that tree in the last pic extreme left. Japanese maple I am guessing?

Yes, that's a maple I've had for a few years now... https://www.bonsainut.com/threads/a-japanese-maple.54235/
Those lights look to be LED. That’s what I use and they are pretty cheap to run. Or maybe they are the fluorescents that come with those units @Dav4 ?Yeah that's not bad at all. I used to run a couple of halides on my reef tank and my bill was pretty steep! That's Jersey for ya!
Great maple Dave! Somehow I missed your thread.
Fluorescents for now... I do have several of the LEDs you recommended ready to go when these begin to fail. Those lights look to be LED. That’s what I use and they are pretty cheap to run. Or maybe they are the fluorescents that come with those units @Dav4 ?
I switched all mine out to corn led bulbs.
Am curious what kinds of pines are there and how do you think light has impacted them during dormancy ?
These are Japanese black pines and keeping them under grow lights while above 40 F will extend their growing season by a few weeks. Once the temperature is kept consistently below the 40 F threshold, the current growing season will end and winter dormancy will ensue.Am curious what kinds of pines are there and how do you think light has impacted them during dormancy ?
So jealous, enjoy!Well, as you are well aware, it's summer down here. Some pics of my garden today, sunny and hot!

I am looking to build a garden with my new house, I was thinking of buying 10 tons of pea gravel and covering my whole backyard with it, but putting plastic wrap underneath it, does anyone have a guide or recommendations before I start?
