What did you do today? Show us Pic Required

Today was a nifty workshop on thread grafting - practiced on a Trident Maple, which was so robust its giant tap root put up a pretty decent fight against the instructor's sawzall. I chickened out after just one graft, but still feel Accomplished at having used an electric drill without hurting myself. :p

Now the little guy looks like he's jousting. :p
Did you do this in the AA class today? (AA = Ann Arbor not the other one) I couldn't get the day off to go, super jealous. :)

Dang now I need to find a picture. .. I looked at this picture today.

Since it's nice out I took stock of my repotting progress.

these are the trees that have been repotted or don't need to be repotted.

These are the trees that have to be repotted or should be repotted because my girlfriend wants me to work on getting more of my trees into bonsai pots so the yard looks nicer.

Shit.... I have a lot more work to do.

Not pictured are my tropicals or my girlfriend coming outside to tell me I have a problem. The pile next to the bench against the house are rooted cuttings and trees I'm going to try getting rid of at the next club meeting. That compromise made her a little happier.

I also repotted an azalea

This is my cheap practice tree so I can get past my tendency to kill azaleas. I'm going slow...

...by cutting off half the rootball with a sawzall.

Picked up this nifty looking hydrangea at a nursery that also serves as a deli near my work. owner was very nice. He had looked at it also before I got there and had thought it would make a nice bonsai but doesnt know much about how to actually do bonsai. Hes trying to bring in some pots and nursery stock.

What kind? Rose of Sharon, hardy, tropical? I've never seen one with a trunk that big.
I was thinking the same thing. You didn't post a picture! I'm notifying the authorities, & sending a sternly worded email to the man. ;) 83 broken rules. :)

I'm already on probation so here's a pic from vacation last year.

Takes a long time but they can get big, here's one I've contemplated digging up, but my back said "no thanks" 😆. 30+ year old Rose of Sharon Hibiscus. 20240207_125308.jpg

Listen you, I worked all day, went grocery shopping and did laundry. I did take a picture of my Lilliput jade cuttings, so get off my back! I was going to send you a couple but you're getting a little too sassy. :plilliput today.jpg

I did! It was pretty interesting and of course the folks who show up to such shindigs are always good fun. Now to anxiously hover over the patient and hope he pulls through his Big Day. >_>;;

Ha ha. I lay around the house all day & wait till my owner comes home from work so, I get a little sassy. :)
I haven't done laundry in 23 years, true story. I'm not allowed to do it. That's also the reason I'm so happy.
I'm still beating up the TBF & bougies you sent. I killed the poms, but you probably forgot about those so I shouldn't have mentioned it.

Sugar coated marshmallow for Easter. Purple flower for the win. :)
