If anyone follows Matt Ouwinga on Facebook you know his house got dinged pretty bad by a strong thunderstorm and tornado a couple of weeks back. He is slogging through recovering from that storm.

Take a look through his pot store on ebay. He’s got a 22 percent off sale on all his pots. There are great buys there if you’re looking for great bonsai pots. You can get a deal and help out a bonsai biz doing it

So sorry to hear this!

Went to the site, didn’t see any sale items listed anymore…. Sale over?

Cheers

Shoot. 🫩Looks like the sale ended yesterday. Sorry. Still he has some extremely nice pots for still reasonable prices. All the more reason to follow him on FB

It never hurts to make Matt an offer on his pots, he is very willing to accept a reasonable offer! I purchase 90% of my pots from him and haven't paid his first asking price yet!

He’s a most awesome guy. I would guess at least 75% of my pots came from him. He was really one of a very few selling Japanese pottery (and some other potters) for reasonable pricing back in the day. Without him for a resource back then many of us wouldn’t have the pottery we have now.

…which is why, except once on a pair of Tofus, I always pay his asking price.😉

It’s interesting to sort all of his pots from highest to lowest price. The high end pots are spectacular (if you read the descriptions of where they came from and their makers) if you’re unfamiliar with bonsai pots many will look both hum drum and overpriced. They’re not. Look very closely and at the details— construction glazes artwork , as well as the functionality -feet, drain holes etc. they’re an education in photos.

I sure as heck don't have the money for any of those pots right now, but it does make me think: when bonsai trees get stolen the police don't care about your missing houseplants. So just report a stolen antique pot worth $600.
