Ryan,

again you shoot the messenger. I only tell what is a fact not widely known among many Americans. You are a perfect example for this. To understand what I wrote means understanding many things that happen on the forums. Your reaction is typical of this kind of thing that I am describing. You just don't understand cultural differences and you seem to apply American code of behavior onto all cultures. In Europe most folks say what they think. To do otherwise would be something like lying to them. How about this?

If you are the messenger you are a poor communicator. Your statements read as though they are YOUR opinions and not some widly known "fact".
Walter you have missed the mark once more. I know you would like to lump me into the "Culturally Ignorant American" group as well by stating that I don't understand cultural differences. But, the fact is you know nothing of me and what understandings I have concerning this matter.

The statement you made would be the same as if I said all Europeans communicate with Americans by being arrogant elitest know-it-all snobs.......this certainly is not the case for ALL Europeans. The same can be said that not ALL Americans loath honest criticism.
My issue with you is only with your over generalized statements and painting certain groups of people as though they all act and think a certain way.

Personally, I welcome blunt and honest criticism...it is painful at times...but the only way to really grow.

Walter, one thing to keep in mind: some of us, even tho we're US citizens, do have some experience with other cultures. And by experience, I mean living in another culture for 10 years or more.

I, for example, grew up in Ecuador. And, more than once I've irritated those around me, here in the US, by being more frank about the US's faults than they liked to hear. Occasionally my patriotism has even been questioned. While I am a loyal citizen of the USA, I'm not blind to the fact that this country isn't perfect, any more than any other.

With my cross-cultural experience, I'm not going make sweeping generalizations about Europeans, or Australians, or Asians, or whoever. You've got the cross-cultural experience to avoid generalizations, too.

And if I ever make it to your part of Germany, I'll be glad to buy you a beer. (Is Guiness available there?)

Well said. :D

I don't know, I think Al and I both got pretty short shrift because we wouldn't ooh and aah over your $5 mugho.

http://knowledgeofbonsai.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=68&t=2268&start=0

But being brutally frank is a virtue in Europe, or so we've been told, and we even tried to let you down easy. Hmmm.

And as to the thread that those mean "editors" deleted of your one-branch "windswept" tree that no one who posted liked, and I think it was Marinko Beg who thought you were joking by posting it? I wonder why that whole thread disappeared after a couple of posts got deleted? Who was behind all that?

Chris,

Your revisionism holds no water anymore, it's lame and childish.

The facts are simple and were explained quite well at the time. You violated posted policy when you swayed from the subject and attacked the person.

Since you brought up my mugo pine, your warped logic is revealed in that thread, http://knowledgeofbonsai.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=68&t=2268 where you had less than stellar reviews for the tree, yet every word of yours remains. Shoots a large hole in your crap, doesn't it? The fact is your recent comments were rude and off topic, hence they were deleted, live with it and stop whining.

And for the record, regardless if you and Al ooh and aah or condemn my efforts, either way carries absolutely the same amount of importance to me, which is none at all. There are many people on-line and off who I respect and listen to on such matters, I'm sorry, you do not make that list and I certainly never have and never will adjust my thinking based on your trite and obviously biased opinions.

If you spent as much time worrying about your bonsai as you do me, well then, maybe you'd actually accomplish something or at least have something to show for it.

Until then, run along and try fooling somebody else, you certainly fool nobody here. I am not a Morologist by trade, although your examples certainly are worthy of study, I'm just not interested, but thanks anyhow for the overwhelming amount of material you have supplied over the years.

Now, if you don't mind, I actually have better things to do than to correct your misinformation and educate you,

Will
