This year's show is bound to be a great one! New vendors: Michael Livingston's Stands, Eli Aiken's pots, Steve Cratty's trees...and much, much more! Come see us at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

Kathy Shaner will be our judge and will be in the exhibit hall Saturday.

The newly renovated exhibit hall is an inviting venue. Look forward to seeing some BNutters there!

Hmmm, I may actually be able to make this one.
Come on over. I'll be there intermittently; until about 10:30 Saturday, maybe again late afternoon, then Sunday late.
Last game of our soccer season is that Saturday too, so Coach Dad is running stem to stern next weekend.
Still trying to figure out when I can collect moss and get the trees ready to show. It won't be Sundayo_O...!

Watch out for Godzilla's sitting next to you!

Coach Dad

Nice!

I talked with who I have confirmed the only good Baseball coach left in Berwyn last night....
I have 3 other people itching to coach my tree year old when he starts playing....
But I have confirmed it with this guy to coach his team with me when the time comes!

I can not wait to be Coach Dad again...
Watching ignorants ruin my 11yo's seasons has been killing me for 4-5 years since I haven't been able to coach.

Busy....but excellent times!

Cheers to you BVF! Cheers!

May wander up that way if I can get into B'ham early enough.
280N ain't no joke on a Saturday if you wait for the world to
wake up. Best driving before 8AM or after 11PM. Horrid
traffic/slow moving parking lot most of the rest.

It's not that bad...but if you get there early, come on in. We'll be there with Kathy setting up by 7:30. Beware though, early birds get put to work...

Only if I can drive the Tesla...sport mode!!
Mine is always in "Sport" mode. But it's an old model. It's not Ludicrous. Or even Insane. Just a good old Performance.

But, Tesla hasn't put in a convenient Supercharger for making the Atlanta/Birmingham trip yet. Easily go one way, getting back would be a little tricky!

Let me see if there are any ChaDeMo chargers...

There's a Nissan dealer in town with a ChaDeMo. We would probably have to charge for an hour there. That would put on about 150 miles of range.

I plan to be there Saturday morning, sounds great.

Is this something you do at your home or go to the woods?

Coach Dad is running stem to stern next weekend
It is FULL life now, but one day you will blink and it will all be over, then another blink and you will be granddad in the stands - It's ALL GOOD! :)

It won't be Sundayo_O...!

Today's show was Great! Some beautiful trees and Michael Livingston's stands were really cool. Some he made using a drill and block of scrap wood. Eli Aiken's pots were super, I don't have any trees to match that quality pot, maybe someday. I have seen pictures of BVF shimpaku on here and photos of his work on it at his blog. But a picture is nothing like seeing the real thing, it was awesome! Did not see him, we were there when he was coaching. I picked up a couple of trees, juniper from Steve Cratty / Plant City Bonsai and a maple from local club member. Pictures are not good of them as it was about dark when I got home. The juniper is 2 trees in the pot, I think I may leave them together and the trident is short thick trunk. The picture of the shimpaku was for sale, I really liked it but have not been able to keep shimpaku alive. So I figured it would be a death sentence for me to purchase, someone else will give it a good home. I really liked it and wanted to share the picture. Maybe Brian will upload some of the show trees, all were really nice and a large crowd was there enjoying all day.
The garden has many variety of trees, one area has Japanese maples, pines, ponds, it was a beautiful day just walking through.

It was a fantastic show, and I'll be posting photos on my site over the next few weeks as I sift through them.
It was great to meet Eli, super nice guy and very good pots. Thanks @hometeamrocker for making the trip.
I bought a "starter" shohin rack from Michael Livingston, sight unseen, who brought it just in time for the show yesterday, and it turned out to be a good fit:

I have to say, the Alabama group is a class act! Super nice folks, made me feel right at home. Brian, I hope we can get a bit more time to hang on the next go-round. Cheers all!
