The perception is very different here: it's not about "economics", it's about values.

We also have the same kind of populist (racist, anti-semitic, etc.) politicians here too. Just like in the 30s when the fascists in Italy, and the nazis in Germany, and in Portugal, etc.

If a majority of USonians are stupid enough to vote for such a clown, let them take the consequences.

here in the states the media, liberal hollywood shows/actors - all act like the world as we know it is going to end. but it wont.

truth is - i doubt hes able to accomplish much of anything if he does win. the dems despise him and few within his own party actually support him. due to that - i think he would probably be a lame duck the majority of his term.

but even so it will be nice to have someone who doesnt try to usurp the constitution, infringe on the rights of the productive members of society, or direct every narrative in a self deprecating liberal slant every time you turn around. a large number of people in this country are sick of it and the damage it causes long term. we need to foster a sense of community and patriotism, the notion of self reliance and personal responsibility instead of fanning the flames of racism/bigotry and finding new ways to blame everyone but the guilty for their actions. hopefully trump will fit that bill as outspoken as he is - he is definitely not known for his restraint and tact.

i really wish he represented me in more areas (the environment, alternative energy etc) - but damn - at this point im willing to take what i can get. i was sold on the hope of that the last 8 years and found myself disappointed.

and i fully expect my investments to take a nose dive on nov 9th (especially if trump wins)- but they will eventually go back up and the world will go on as usual.

Do I understand this correct?:
- Clinton wins, Congress blunts most of what she wants to do for two years, then the Dems gain control of Congress and get policy passed or the Reps keep control and keep blunting. If something truly criminal/illegal comes up she can be impeached.
- Trump wins, Congress allows the realistic stuff and blunts the goofy stuff (walls etc.), in two years if Trump is truly awful Dems could gain control of Congress and start blocking policy, or Reps keep control and keep mitigating policy. If he is truly awful and tries anything illegal he can be impeached.

Is this mostly accurate? My knowledge of American politics mostly comes from old episodes of Schoolhouse Rock.
 
4 years is not enough time to do anything.
It's set up to make it difficult for the government to do anything.
In some cases that's good, because it slows down the Progressives from taking us right back to Mao's Great Leap Forward.
(The irony of the term "progressives" is too rich).
Obama, on the other hand, doesn't follow the rules of American politics.
He creates law from the executive branch, by executive order, which is illegal.
If we had any opposition party at all, and any credibility at all, Obama would have been impeached long ago.
We have no opposition to the Progressives here. We have fake opposition called republicans, who just do what @AlainK and @M. Frary want, which is lay down and get rolled over.
Trump is the very first one to come along who just simply won't let the media get away with it.
That's the Number 1 reason most people here like him.
Stopping illegal immigration and radical Islam are a close second and third.
 
I my own opinion, stopping the Islamofacists, and exposing left for who they really are, is one and the same.
The American left, and the islamofacists are linked in so many ways it's insane.
Again, with no sense of irony, the left doesn't seem to realize, that as they place Islam on a pedestal every day, they are the first ones who would be thrown down a well by them.

I coined a term for this kind of behavior many years ago, when I was explaining how my public sector employee brother and his radical feminist wife act.

Willful obliviousness.
Yeah, it's kinda like willful ignorance, but different.
They don't see the reality because they don't want to.
That's a fine way to go through life, I guess, until it bites you in the ass...it invades your house, or mugs you on the street.

If I were either candidate in this election I'd keep one thing foremost in my mind... the great equalizer in this whole thing is 150 grains of speeding lead... and close to 1/2 of the American population on either side has a "few" members who, euuuuuhrrr, maybe not-so-far-removed from doing it.

politicians should take notice that these arent just fringe-nutjob groups anymore. its not just uneducated rednecks involved (as they have been viewed before), but increasingly draws attn from the educated middle class, conservative blacks, and women.

But everyone thought Obama would catch a cap by now, and it never happened.
Security is pretty tight.
I go the the white house compound frequently.
Secret Service has stolen knives from me, knives that are legitimate tools for my work.

I seen this...and I'm sorry...I didn't bother going to the original source for a direct link. But...if anyone wishes to hear some incredible words spoken to the black community from the Black Panther's Leader...It's amazing his video clip. He touches on what Trump did...when there was rioting. And then on what Obama has NOT done for them in the 8 years of office he's been in. I was shocked to think...I could listen to this man...and find his words...acceptable and relating to where we are here and now.

Blinders are coming off...it's about time! I must confess...it impressed me to the point I listed to it a few times. But...yes, it's good to hear this. Maybe we can get back to how Americans treated each other the day after 911...when we didn't see skin color. That we come together for the greater of our country...and our people. I would love to see the division that has gotten wider with Obama in presidency...close some.

You know George, he's the Bill Clinton administration official, who poses as an objective journalist now...
The guy who stopped Obama mid-sentence, when he admitted that he is Muslim....that's why the call him George Stay-on-top-of-this....
