My non traditional bonsai

WoW that first pic makes me sad...:( Not good for a playful pup. How did he handle that monstrosity on his leg? He turned into a beautiful dog indeed !!! Beautiful photo that Mike.

Like it wasn't even there. He was out of both casts within 4 weeks. I ran him next to the truck a couple weeks ago and he can go almost 35 mph.
He did turn out to be quite a good looking dog. And more importantly a good dog.
I call him Angel Boy. Because he must have been sent down to me from Heaven.

And unlike most dogs they look nothing like what they will be when they grow up.
They turn from the fuzzy little black bear looking things into a German Shepherd .
 
Like you said Mike, these guys are so smart! I remember an old Shepherd my buddy had, as it got older it would go to the kitchen, open the cupboard and get a cookie! Hilarious!

Wow...yes, my guy is pushing 70lbs at 8 months old now. He's the most active bulldog we've ever had. The legs on this guy is just impressive. He's corded like a horse! Not usually seen in Bulldogs...because of their couch potato tendency. But...this guy is so not the couch potato...but does have an off button thank goodness. (Lighting is bad...his lovely color not coming out. But the shadows show off his legs well.)

Beautiful dig Mike! I grew up with German Shepherds. All outdoor dogs. They had a large fenced enclosure (electric top & bottom to prevent escapes) with their own house. Dad would put straw in it every winter & keep fresh water for them. All were great dogs to the family, except we did have to put down one female because she was overall aggressive towards others. My dad decided to after she bit the neighbors dog who was one of the friendliest Doberman Pinchers you'd ever met. As for your story about the neighbors pit coming over, my dad was out walking one day & got bit on the arm by a Great Dane. After that he either took a stick or this dog with him & had to hold her back from attacking the thing even though she was only 80lbs. So I was a dog person growing up. Then 12-13 years ago my wife turned me into a cat person. Then about 2 years ago we got our mutt from the humane society. She's a border collie lab mix with some husky I think as her tail is perpetually up. Wife was looking for a dog, found this one, had my daughter (2 at the time) play with her. Went back a second time, was about to put her on hold & saw a lady walking out with her. After that she was looking at border collie breakers, rechecked the humane society & saw our dog listed again. Turns out the woman returned her saying she growled at her kid. My daughter was hanging on her without a problem when they first met her. Turned out at first dye didn't like her feat touched. Bonded with 1 of our 3 cats & still chases the other 2. Unfortunately a year ago we had to put her friend down. He had IBS for cats & was on steroids forever, developed diabetes & stopped eating at the end. Tried all we could to save him including daily IVs as he was dehydrated. Decided to wait awhile for another cat until someone abandoned a black kitten at my mother-in-laws Kwik Trip. So now we have a 13 yr old cat, 12 yr old cat, 5 yr old dog & a 6 mo old kitten who we named Karuba after where she was found. Needless to say I'm now a dog & cat person!

I like cats too.
I bought one of those invisible fences to keep Rupert in the yard last year. It took him 2 days to figure out if he ran fast enough and jumped through the air it only hurt for a second. Those things hurt!
Once he figured out jumping it was all over. He goes over a 5 foot fence without even touching it. He even jumps in and out of my truck. Through the open window.
He hasn't attacked another dog since. He tries to be friends with all of the others. Just that one time. He could probably tell the pit bull wasn't there to play.
He plays with my sisters all of the time.2014-11-15 21.52.36.jpg Roxanne. Pound for pound one of the strongest dogs I've ever met. I love her psycho eyes!
 
I have a 3' fence thankfully my dog hasn't realized she could probably get over, she just stands on it with her front paws to bark at strangers or other dogs. She was up to 90lbs & has been on more controlled feedings since so not sure she could jump it outright. She's definitely got the width of a black lab. She's very defensive towards other dogs but not people as much. Sometimes we think she thinks she's a cat for how much she naps! Lol the 2 oldest cats are getting more used to her & realizing she isn't going to eat them. She just gives chase if they run away. She's buddies with the kitten. Funny thing about the kitten is we joke she's our male cat reincarnated as they share a ton of personality traits. And anyone whose owned cats know they aren't all the same but very different. Just like the idea their solitary animals is a myth. They are just as needy as any other pet.
 
here's my pup. someone found him on the street when he was 7 months old, I don't think he was a stray though. he's two years old now. I want to get one of those doggy DNA tests done, I'm really curious. If I had to guess I'd say a min pin/terrier mix Snapchat-1334235699.jpg

as you can see he likes sitting on top of couches, looking out the window. He thinks he's a guard dog.
 
It's how I got my kitten. Someone dropped her off at my mother in laws gas station. They found her in the double door entry way. My wife's uncle also is our vet & he thought it unlikely she got there in her own & instead was dropped off. My dog came from a shelter in Kentucky. At least for those who abandon/give up pets there are plenty of people like us more than willing to take them in. All I can say is there loss is definitely our gain & they are missing out!
