Thank you. For sure I will because not everyone can subscribe to Mirai but his knowledge needs to be shared. I am working to improve the videos. It is harder than one thinks.

I don’t like the videos, don’t like your tag line, but who cares? You’re probably awesome to hang out with and work on some trees.

It's allowed. Do what you want. I will be emailing Ryan and reporting you on Youtube.
Hey don’t worry I am not reporting you. You can live another day to troll someone else. Or me again next week but please promise that you will only troll me if you watch the video. It would be too rude to troll without even having watched the video. If you have pines in your collection you will be interested. I am presenting Mirai’s methodology on growth management on pines.

I saw a Roofing Truck the other day that had a big 23 on it and "Air Rooffer".
I saw a truck too! It had a picture, on the driver's side door, of someone sitting on a toilet with his pants down at his ankles and his upper body was cut in half. The upper half of his body was the view of the driver, driving the truck! Great promotion, IMHO! I thought it was quite cleaver, but (no pun intended) I doubt that the guy driving that truck was the same person sitting on the crapper! Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course...???

Perhaps. But to be a student suggests a certain standard of instruction, quality and mastery. To even be accepted as a student usually requires a significant commitment of money and/or time - to say nothing of prior experience.

I can subscribe to Mirai with nothing more than a credit card, miss many of the streams, and sleep through the rest :) It's not like I am getting graded on knowledge retention and application. And let's face it, if Rafael had said "Subscriber to Bonsai Mirai, participant in Jim Doyle and Walter Pall workshops" I don't think anyone would have said anything :)
It’s true. It’s one thing to watch a video of someone doing something, and yet another to sit beside the instructor who gives you real time feedback and detailed instruction.

I have studied with Boon for about 8 years, now. I go there three or four times a year, and spend a week or more there each time, working on trees. And he visits my home once a year. Intense, personalized instruction like that is far different than watching a video, or attending a workshop.

Don’t misunderstand, I think videos can be very helpful, and I realize that not everyone can afford the time and money to get personalized training.

I do think it’s rather silly to make a video demonstrating something they learned by watching a video. Some information is bound to be lost.

All that aside, Raphael’s tag line stating who all his teachers are and who inspires him is somewhat interesting. I’m reminded of when I go to an Orchestral Concert with a Special Soloist headliner guest artist. In the biography, they usually list where he got his musical education and who his teachers were.

I seriously could not care less what you do. You come around here (with your 38 posts) to self promote and nothing more and call me a troll. LOL! Anyway, you know my opinion and clearly, don't care so that makes us even. Keep up what you do and if you get famous selling someone else's methods than so be it. Perhaps Ryan won't care but he has invested quite a lot in his brand I guess that's for him to decide.

The truth is when I clicked on your video I expected to see Ryan teaching. I felt misled. All I am saying to you is sell me your methods. Establish your own brand. I'll watch and perhaps learn. I will definitely respect the effort. Everyone has learned from someone and we don't necessarily need to blow that trumpet. Just show us what has worked for you from your years of experience and it will be received if it has value and rejected if it does not. You come off like a name dropper. I have no respect for that.

I think that's on you friend. There's nothing in his title that implies he is Mirai or Ryan.

You seem to be an apologist for him so it's all good. It sure could be on me, that's why I said "I felt..." In any case, he made clear my opinion did not matter. I spoke my piece on it and sent Ryan an email so it's no longer my issue.

I'm not an apologist, im just happen to disagree with you...

I'm not trying to offend you. But it's one thing to "feel x" and another to use that feeling as evidence for wrongdoing.

I have never seen Ryan, Walter Pall, Bjorn or any of the other respected artists use someone else’s name to justify their their posts or videos.

Ryan is doing a multi part series on Mr.Kimura. His name is in every episode title. Sure he studied under him. But I'd call that perfectly analogous

It seems that the good portion of your posts on this site are defending Rafael so you might be able to guess why I think that.

It's pretty hard to offend me anymore. I'm too old for that. Feel == opinion and that's what I gave. It's not worth much but it's mine. I did not ever try to present evidence about anything. Some on this thread have felt as though there may be an infringement issue I never stated that.

Haha I can see why you would think that. You're right! I thought you were a part of the mob. Apologies

If you didn't get permission, this is likely trademark infringement. From the USPTO:

"To support a trademark infringement claim in court, a plaintiff must prove that it owns a valid mark, that it has priority (its rights in the mark(s) are "senior" to the defendant's), and that the defendant's mark is likely to cause confusion in the minds of consumers about the source or sponsorship of the goods or services offered under the parties' marks."

Just because Ryan Neil doesn't send you a cease and desist letter doesn't mean it's ok. You may be costing him sales if people don't subscribe to Mirai Live because they find free "Mirai" videos on YouTube.
To quote previous information: You may be costing him sales if people don't subscribe to Mirai Live because they find free "Mirai" videos on YouTube. All one has to do is go through one of these videos to understand there is no confusion between Rafael and Ryan. If you can't tell the difference you need to watch more, or find something else to do.

A 7+ year apprenticeship is analogous to a few hours of watching videos and maybe a couple of classes? You might want to update your dictionary.

. Take the info I am giving you for free without you subscribing to Mirai (which you should) and use it or ignore it. At most the only ones to suffer will be your trees
I haven't watched any of your video nor have I watched a single second of a Ryan Neil video or Mirai or whatever.
If I watch some will my trees miraculously be better or should I spend that time working with my trees?
You can actually learn everything you need to know or want to know about bonsai on this site.
Through the search function or by asking one of our very knowledgeable members.
It takes a second and you get a reply to your exact question in very little time.

I highly recommend to anyone subscribing to Mirai Live. For sure the information is out there but in my opinion Mirai Live is revolutionary.

For the trolls and others around here, so you can go rest peacefully tonight: I spoke to the Mirai team. I've been told that after reviewing the videos, Ryan encourages me to continue distributing my videos and explicitly mentioning Mirai Live and himself in these videos but he prefers that I don't use the word Mirai in the title/description. As per Ryan's wish, I have changed the title/description text of the necessary videos and will continue to credit within the videos the source of the methodology being Mirai, or Ryan etc as the case may be. Overall a fully positive response with a minor request for adjustment from Ryan and the Mirai team who never questioned the quality of the information and of explicitly mentioning the provenance of the information as was my intention all along. For those that never experienced Mirai Live, I strongly suggest that you subscribe (it is free for a week) to the Pro level and experience for yourself the quality of the online education provided by Mirai Live with the live chat where Ryan answers all your questions during the stream and the live and forum Q&A's every week in addition to the pro content. Multiply that by 2 years and watching every single video and several multiple times and i think that gives anyone a very solid foundation. In addition I also study in person twice a year for 3 days with Walter Pall and Jim Doyle. I am pretty sure that I have a very solid foundation of bonsai knowledge. I will continue to making my videos for the love of bonsai and of teaching and I am sure that all who watch them will learn something from them.

You should probably remove Walters name from your titles as well and refrain from placing anyone else’s names in the title. Now that you realize you shouldn’t be doing it. By all means mention your teachers name in the video.

If Walter Pall asks me to remove his name I will do so. However the hedge pruning method is so associated to Walter that I see it as essentially part of the name of the technique.
