It could be a Coprinus of some sort : here (France, Europe) we have several species. Most of them are edible, but when they become black, they cause an allergy to alcohol.

Don't eat it !

A beautiful sunset just like Swisconsin...

Red sky in the evening, shepard's warning. Red sky in the morning, shepard's blessing.

The temperatures dropped to some 20° in the afternoon here, with what I would call a "Breton weather" : showers of rain, then, sunny patches, like they have in Brittany. But we have very nice sunsets. This time, I went upstairs and took photos from the rooms my sons have left now.

Mutinus caninus, the dog stinkhorn mushroom. The whole genus of Mutinus have the same plan, color of the top portion can be red, black, brown. They attract carrion feeding insects and flies to spread their spores. The term " Dog Stinkhorn" refers to the smell, dog feces would be a good comparison. My nephew, when he was 11 or so years old, would find a bunch of these, and hide a pile in strategic places, like under his uncle's bed. Then wait for the victim to start yelling at the dog. Or him.

Obviously Leo's your go to guy for shrooms :)
I don't know my head from a hole it left in the ground or a psychedelic from a deadly strain when it comes to mushrooms.

Close, but no cigar: "Red sky at night, shepard's delight. Red sky at morning, shepards take warning.

Where I live, there are no (major) industrial plants and it's not that much populated. The air pollution here is very low, especially as we're just slowly out of the lockdown.

The only plant there is around is in the west-south-west, just the opposite of sunset. It's a nuclear plant where one of the two towers is now closed. And the other one only yields clouds of steam (hopefully not contaminated), some 50 miles away in the other direction.

The "Val de Loire" has been celebrated for its sunsts since the 16th century. Of course, with cars and light pollution, it is not the same, but it's still a fairly clean place.

Wanted to get out before sunset, but there's another shower of rain. Good, it will save me time tomorrow morning, no need to water my potted plants and tomatoes and courgettes

I love yellow courgettes, they're sweeter than the green ones. You can grate them and eat them raw with olive oil and lemon juice or apple vinegar.
AlainK; I don't think you have ever posted a picture of one of your own trees?

Dear Lord! I am filled with sorrow to hear that, friend.

Much love and positive energy in your direction, emanating from my current location, bud.
